Eyebrows is sitting in the interrogation room, rocking back and forth. His usual confidence is shaken as he realizes the caterpillar hitmen might be onto him. Just as his public defender walks in, the door flies open, and in slithers Silky, the town’s most feared silk merchant—who also happens to be the caterpillars’ fixer.
“Eyebrows,” Silky hisses, adjusting his custom-woven ascot. “I have one question, and how you answer determines whether you crawl out of here or get spun into a cocoon you won’t be coming out of.”
Eyebrows gulps. “A-alright…”
Silky leans in. “Who. Set. Up. Mr. Wiggles?”
Meanwhile, across town…
Lashy is pacing in her flat, her wings twitching nervously. “Girl, what do I do? If those caterpillar goons find out the truth, I’m toast!”
Her loud-mouthed friend, sipping a tiny thimble of nectar, sighs dramatically. “Look, you either gotta come clean or get outta town. Those bugs don’t play.”
Just then, Little Lasha flutters in. “Momma, why are you crying?”
Lashy forces a smile. “Oh, baby, Momma’s just, uh, dealing with some pollen allergies.”
Suddenly, there’s a knock at the door. It’s Bugsy, a nervous-looking housefly who owes Lashy a favor.
“Lashy,” he buzzes, eyes darting around. “I got bad news—real bad.”
“What now?!”
Bugsy lowers his voice. “The caterpillar twins? They think you’re involved, and word is… they might be planning to snatch Little Lasha!”
Lashy gasps, clutching her daughter. “Over my molting body!”
Will Lashy run? Will Eyebrows survive Silky’s interrogation? And are the caterpillar twins really out for revenge—or is something even more sinister creeping in the shadows?
